To me, the Wellesley Effect means that whenever I find myself in a challenging situation -- in life or work -- I ask myself, "Can I handle it?" and soon reply, "Of course you can!" Sometimes a voice echoes back, " went to Wellesley, didn't you? Wellesley women can do anything." It means I'm not afraid to be bold, to tackle new opportunities, and to ask for what I want or need. I have the confidence to achieve -- but if I falter, I also know that I can reach out to the ever-resourceful Wellesley community for advice and support, which often comes more quickly than I could've hoped. These aspects of being a Wellesley Woman are invaluable to me in my career as a university professor.
