I once was a young mother watching my fellow classmates pass me by in a crowded car as I washed the windows of a pizza joint. At that moment, I had realized that they were also passing me by in life in more ways than one. Thankfully, through the Davis Scholar program at Wellesley, I was able to conduct research, and co-author a scale; Something I had never imagined possible being that I once was a dropout with little support. More importantly, my daughter witnessed my hard work during our trips to Wellesley, and is now in the National Junior Honors Society. She is working hard and plans to attend Wellesley herself as a traditional aged student. I was able to inspire hope and be the person she needed thanks to Wellesley. That is what I call "the Wellesley effect."
