To me, the Wellesley Effect means that whenever I find myself in a challenging situation -- in life or work -- I ask myself, "Can I handle it?" and soon reply, "Of course you can!" Sometimes a voice echoes back, "...you went to Wellesley, didn't you? Wellesley women can do anything." It means I'm not afraid to be bold, to tackle new opportunities, and to ask for what I want or need. I have the confidence to achieve -- but if I falter, I also know that I can reach out to the ever-resourceful Wellesley community for advice and support, which often comes more quickly than I could've hoped. These aspects of being a Wellesley Woman are invaluable to me in my career as a university professor.
